The Choir of St John’s Cathedral, Salford will be holding its first ever open rehearsal on Wednesday 29 March 2017. If you love singing in church, why not come along and sing with us for an evening? We’re a friendly choir of all ages, and we cover every kind of Catholic liturgical music, ancient and modern, serious and popular. Come and join us for a rehearsal, and sample how we work, and the music we love to sing.
We’ll be looking at a good range of different pieces, some perhaps familiar, and some definitely less so! Among the familiar will be Mozart’s Ave Verum, Tallis’s If ye love me and Rutter’s For the beauty of the earth. But there will be some more challenging and unfamiliar items to get our teeth into as well!
The evening will be led by the Cathedral Choirmaster and Director of Music Martin Barry, and accompanied by Cathedral Organist Anthony Hunt. There’s no charge for attending, and we’ll lay on refreshments. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so register as soon as you can to be sure of a place.
