Our song at Communion echoed our Lord’s words in today’s Gospel:
Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you,
a peace the world cannot give,
this is my gift to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
Psalm 84(85), which we interspersed between repetitions of Jacques Berthier’s refrain, also speaks of peace, bound together with justice:
I will hear what the Lord God has to say,
a voice that speaks of peace, peace for his people.
His help is near for those who fear him
and his glory will dwell in our land.
Mercy and faithfulness have met;
justice and peace have embraced.
Faithfulness shall spring from the earth
and justice look down from heaven.
