As ever, a diverse musical banquet to match the riches of tonight’s moving liturgy.
Listening again to the Psallite Mass Gloria on the Sound Cloud, I don't think I've heard a setting as simple but powerful as this one, Anthony does it justice on the organ too. It's a shame so many parishes are either just saying the Gloria or using an outdated praise song in its place, when a setting such as Psallite would work very well for a congregation that doesn't have a choir or cantor leading.
ReplyDeleteThanks Philip, I agree - the simplicity gives it a real versatility. The test of its merit is how loud the people sing it, and it clearly passes that test.
