Today’s readings dealt with the theme of forgiveness, so it seemed a good opportunity to sing Paul Inwood’s hymn for the Year of Mercy again, complete with its arresting choral ending. Elsewhere, two of our songs (for the preparation of the gifts, and after Communion) reprised verses from today’s responsorial psalm.
Before the blessing and dismissal, in honour of the Queen’s (official) ninetieth birthday celebrations, we recited the prayer for the Queen, and then sang some of the same words before a hearty rendition of the national anthem.
