Bishop John led us in a commemoration of one of the bloodiest battles in human history (as Wikipedia puts it). Much of the music was from the plainchant requiem, but the closing hymn, to the tune of Jerusalem, was a stirring plea for an end to wars:
May swords of hate fall from our hands,
our hearts from envy find release,
till by God’s grace our warring world
shall see Christ’s promised reign of peace.
