Latvian composer Rihards Dubra’s simple and serene O Crux Ave has long been a staple of our Holy Week repertoire, so I had a good (metaphorical) leaf through his catalogue for other pieces to add to our collection. Ego Sum Resurrectio is a more complex and challenging piece: in some ways it reminds me of Bob Chilcott’s setting of the Beatitudes, another miniature packed with drama. But the tonal and harmonic language here is perhaps a bit more wide ranging. There are plenty more items in the catalogue to explore.
