It was a new departure (and, I’m told, a permanent change) to have the Mass of Chrism on morning of the Wednesday of Holy Week, rather than the Thursday. From the musicians’ point of view, once diaries were brought up to date with the late-breaking announcement of the change, it probably makes life easier, with the week’s exertions spread over one more day, and the the luxury of a whole rehearsal later the same day dedicated to the impending Triduum.
